Prepare crust as instructed in our pie crust recipe.
Mix sugar, flour, nutmeg, cinnamon, and salt. Stir in apples.
Put into a pastry lined pie plate. Dot with butter. Cover with top crust. Slit top crust and seal edge.
Bake at 425 until crust is brown and juice begins to bubble through slits in crust (about 40 - 50 minutes).
